I am a native of Southern California and enjoy traveling the world and learning about different cultures. I received my undergraduate degree in Kinesiology at California State University, Fullerton. After working in the field for a couple years, I returned to school and earned a master's degree in social work (MSW) at California State University, Long Beach. Currently, I hold three active licenses in the State of California (BBS), Board of Social Workers (TN), and Georgia (GA) Composite Board as a licensed clinical social worker, a Ph.D. in Social Work, and affiliated with different professional organizations.
I acquired knowledge, self-awareness, and skills through my personal and professional experiences. I am passionate about working with individuals and helping them reach personal and professional goals. After a successful career in the field working with adults, children and families dealing with trauma, depression, anxiety, substance abuse, and chronic mental illness I decided to transition to academia and began teaching part-time graduate courses in counseling, marriage, family & therapy, and social work programs. Former full-time MSW Field Education Director and Lecturer at Kennesaw State University in the Department of Social Work and Human Services. I have gained professional experiences working as a therapist in multiple settings such as inpatient and outpatient psychiatric facilities, outpatient community mental health agencies, private practice, crisis hotlines, psychiatric mobile response teams, residential treatment facilities, hospital settings, and as a instructor, among other roles. I have developed and facilitated trainings for the community, field supervisors, and students seeking to enhance their knowledge and skills. I have provided clinical supervision to multiple social workers who successfully passed the LCSW exam. In addition, I have completed several continuing educational trainings in areas such as DBT, TF-CBT, crisis intervention, depression, anxiety, infant mental health, perinatal mood disorders, and many more. My experience and expertise includes higher-education, research on cultural and clinical practice, professional development, trauma, and depression.
